Ingredients:
- Green Peas - 1 cup
- Onion - 1 small
- Garlic - 3 pods
- Ginger - 1 inch piece
- Butter - 1 teaspoon
- Heavy cream - 2 tablespoon
- Bay Leaf - 1
Preparation:
- Wash the green peas.The green peas can be either frozen or fresh.
- Add the butter to a pan and heat it.Add bay leaf and sauté it.
- Add onion and stir fry it till it becomes transparent and tender.
- Then add the ginger and garlic and roast it slightly.
- Add 3 cups of water to it and let it boil.
- Once the water boils, add peas and let it cook well.It takes only around 5 minutes for the frozen peas to cook.
- Add salt and let it cool down.
- Once it cools down, filter the water and puree the peas to a smooth paste.Add the filtered peas water and let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add pepper and more salt if required.
- Add the cream at the end and mix it and put off the flame.
- Transfer it to a serving bowl and add cream on top.
- Serve it piping hot with bread croutons.
The green peas soup is very delicious. When I did for the first time, everyone in our house was skeptical on how a soup made with green peas will taste!!! But, it was really refreshing and tasty. The whole pot got over in a few minutes :) . It is worth a try in your kitchen too :)
