Mutter Paneer is a North Indian style side dish which is normally had with roti , chappati , paratha or Naan. It also goes well with pulao / steamed rice. This is a very easy dish made with paneer and peas. It is good to make this on occasions that calls for vegetarian specialities. It is easy to make and at the same time, it looks and tastes rich and festive.
Ingredients:
- Peas - 3/4 cup
- Paneer cubed into bite sized pieces - 1 cup
- Onion - 2
- Tomato - 2
- Green chillies - 2
- Ginger paste - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic Paste - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chilli Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam Masala - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cumin Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Curd - 3 tablespoons
- Salt - As per taste
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
Preparation
- Cut the onion into pieces and grind it to a paste
- Cut the tomatotes and grind it to a paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the onion paste and fry it till the raw smell disappears.
- Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies and fry it till it becomes light brown in color.
- Add all the masalas - turmeric powder, salt, chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and garam masala and sauté it till the masalas get roasted and cooked.
- Now, add the tomato paste and let it cook till the oil separates out.
- In the mean time, shallow fry the paneer in couple of tablespoons of oil till they just turn into golden color on the edges.
- Once the oil separates out, add the well beaten curd and mix it thoroughly. Add the peas and cook it for 2 minutes.
- Then add paneer pieces and add 3/4 cup water and let it come to a boil in simmer.
- Once it reaches the desired thickness, put off the stove and transfer it to a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves if desired.
- It goes well with roti/chappati or with pulav.
