Sherbet - This is a term used for frozen dessert. It is actually a sorbet with some diary added to it. Sorbet and Sherbet contain the same basic ingredients - pureed fruit , sugar and water. While sherbet is also made with the same ingredients, some milk/cream is added to it to make it more of an ice cream texture.
Ingredients
- Lemon - 2 large
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Heavy whipping cream - 1/2 cup
- Granulated white sugar - 1/3 cup
Preparation
- Juice the two lemons. There should be around 1/2 cup of lemon juice. If not, add water to make it half cup.
- Take the zest of 1 lemon.
- Take the lemon juice , lemon zest, milk , whipping cream and sugar in a bowl and stir it well.
- Taste it and add, if you feel you need more sugar.
- Pour the mixture in a freezer safe bowl or a metal cake pan, cover it with a plastic wrap and place it in the freezer.
- It needs to be frozen for about 6 hours.
- After every hour, make sure to take it out and stir the mixture so that it remains soft rather than crystallizing and becoming like a popsicle.
- Once done, transfer it to a container and store in the freezer and serve it as and when needed.
