Chocolate chip cookies

Here I am again with another baking story. I wanted to just let the blogs evolve and looks like it is evolving into a food blog!!!

This time it's the famous and pretty simple, yet utterly butterly delicious Chocolate Chip cookies.

I love chocolate chip cookies and always long for the big boxes of those cookies stacked in the aisle of the super markets here in the U.S. But my husband doesn't like those chewy cookies. So coaxing him to buy those has been a weekly affair(every weekend during our grocery shopping) and NOT much successful!!! Hence the decision of baking them at home.. and guess what!! I can make one batch chewy for myself and one batch of crunchy cookies for him, just the way he likes it!!! I can't believe he fell for that idea  ;-)

So, here it goes.

Ingredients:
  1. Unsalted butter - 1 stick (113 grams or 1/2 cup)
  2. Packed brown sugar - 3/4 cup
  3. Granulated white sugar - 3/4 cup
  4. Baking soda - 3/4 teaspoon
  5. Salt - 1 teaspoon
  6. All purpose flour - 2 and 1/4 cups
  7. Eggs(large) - 2
  8. Pure Vanilla essence - 1 teaspoon
  9. Semi sweet chocolate chips - 1 bag (12 ounce - approximately 2 cups)

Its very easy to prepare the batter for the chocolate chip cookies.

Points to note:
  • Make sure the butter and the eggs are at room temperature.
  • Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees F i.e., 180 degrees C.
  • Place the rack in the middle of the oven.
  • Use ungreased baking sheets.
  • This recipe makes around 45 to 50 medium sized cookies.

First cream the butter in a large bowl with the electric mixer.Add the brown sugar and the white sugar and cream them until they become fluffy and creamy.Add eggs one by one and the vanilla essence and beat them up for a minute.
The wet ingredients with sugars before adding the flour

In another bowl, add the flour, baking soda and salt and sieve it or mix it with a whisk till the salt and the baking soda is mixed uniformly with the flour. Now add the flour to the creamed mixture and mix it with a spoon.Do not overdo the mixing.Add in the chocolate chips and gently mix it once.

The final batter

Use a medium ice cream scoop or a table spoon and carefully place little rounds on the baking sheet. You can use your hands to make them little smooth rounds.

Bake them at 375 degrees F for 9 to 11 minutes. ( 9 minutes for a little crunchy combined with little chewy - yummy or up to 11 minutes for crunchy cookies). Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack and cool completely.
