Quick Wheat Dosa

Wheat dosa is always my backup plan for any day's breakfast. I make sweet dosa for my daughter with banana and milk and the non-sweet version for us. With wheat , banana and milk, it is one hearty and healthy meal which makes both mummy and my daughter's tummy happy :)

This recipe is the non-sweet version of this dosa.

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies - 2 (chopped into small pieces)
  • Cumin seeds - 1 /2 tea spoon
  • Coriander leaves - chopped finely - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
  • oil

Preparation:
  • Mix wheat flour , rice flour, cumin seeds and salt together in a bowl.
  • Add one cup of water and make a smooth paste.
  • Add 2 more cups of water. The batter should be watery.
  • Add in the green chillies and coriander leaves.
  • Mix well.

  • Keep the dosa griddle hot and pour the dosa batter in a quick and swift motion. I have see this in the live dosa counters in our office canteen when they make rava dosa. That quick motion makes the holes in the dosa and make it crispy .
  • You can either try out the fancy way or you can pour the batter in the middle and rotate the griddle in a circular motion so that the batter is evenly spread and the dosa is thin.
  • Drizzle some oil on top of the dosa.
  • Wait till it turns golden brown on one side and then turn it and cook on the other side.
  • Remove and serve immediately with your favourite chutney.
  • I normally do not use chutney as the dosa itself is very flavorful and tasty with green chillies and coriander leaves.
Note:
  • For sweet dosa, mix all purpose flour with wheat flour.
  • You need some patience and practice to take the dosa out of the griddle without breaking.
