This is a very easy recipe for breakfast and good one for your kids snack box. I pack this every alternate day for my kid to her kindergarden. She can easily pick it up and eat it without any mess and it is healthy too.
Note: You need to have a paniyaram pan for making this.
Ingredients
- Idli/dosa batter - 1 cup
- Onion (chopped finely) - 1 tablespoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green chilli (chopped finely) - 1 (optional)
- Ginger ( chopped finely) - 1/2 inch piece
- Curry leaves cut finely - 1 sprig
Preparation
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.Let it splutter.
- Add onion , green chilli , ginger and half of the cut curry leaves and sauté them well.
- Once the onion becomes transparent , add the mixture to the batter and mix well.
- Add the remaining curry leaves and mix the batter.
- Heat the paniyaram pan in the stove and add tiny amount of oil in each hole.
- Using a small spoon, add up to 3/4 th full of batter in each hole. Close the pan and let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Remove the lid and turn over the paniyarams and let cook for another couple of minutes without closing the lid.
- Remove from the pan and store in a hot pack.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or any chutney of your choice.
